PLOT
There are less than five hundred living humans that remember the human civilizations that predated the great lizards - The Sandman.
Deep in space there is a counsel preparing to meet. Immortal beings assigned the task of protecting the often fragile balance between good and evil, light and dark. They judge each planet and assign a course of action. They are the final say, above police and governments and gods. The fate of each planet begins and ends with them and earth is on their list.
The events of the past year have shown the best and worst of Earth. Villians have both risen and fallen, heroes have fallen. The bombing of Cardiff, dangerously close to the rift, had only just been cleaned up when the Dalek invasion began. Tragedy after tragedy had fallen upon the tiny planet and thrown the balance out of sync. Much of the counsel thought the situation hopeless. The planet had slipped into temporary calm but that would not last, they never did. It was believed that the best course of action would be to end it and save the population any further suffering.
Then a voice spoke up. A tiny voice belonging to the very youngest of the counsel. A child of Earth, chosen by the counsel leader and taken from her mother at birth. Gifted with a frightening gift of precognition, the Child suggested that maybe what earth needed was a chance. A chance to prove itself worthy. She had seen the best and the worst of what mankind had to offer the universe and she truly believed that it was not without hope.
One year, she proposed. Give them back the heroes they lost, make them face the evils they defeated and let them prove that they could do it different. Let them show the universe that humanity wasn’t lost to it’s own darkness. She fought for earth for days, with passion and the faith that only a child can posess and she won. One year, earth would be given. The rift would be opened and then it would be closed and the people of earth would be left to fix the fall out.
One hundred sixty five days hardly seems long enough to prove you’re worth saving. One hundred sixty five days after a year of being beaten down and always feeling like you are on the losing end of a one sided fight. One by one, the heroes of earth would unite. alliances would be forged and battles would be fought. One year, the fight of their lives.
